Looking for a career break, a sabbatical, a gap year site, a working or cultural vacation? How about a unique (and cheap!) vacation rental in Argentina? Or a great place to live and study Spanish? A great retirement vacation spot? Are you looking for an extended stay in Argentina, to immerse yourself in its culture and spirit? Are you tired of searching through room rentals in cities?

Why not come and stay on a working ranch and witness the beauty of rural Argentina. We would love to have you join our community!

There is a three week minimum stay required. A one time fee of $150 covers your entry and exit to the estancia by horse, including a pack horse or mule for your luggage, plus an orientation to our traditional tack and riding western style.

The Experience

At Estancia Ranquilco, we welcome travelers for long terms stays, working vacations and volunteering. This means at any given time, we are home to a wonderful community of horse lovers, explorers, adventurers and meaning seekers.

An extended stay at Ranquilco is for a period longer than 3 weeks. As an extended stay guest, you can choose to live in one of our beautiful cottages and be taken care of by our chef, or you can be more self-sufficient in one of our houses with a kitchenette. It is an ideal opportunity to take a break, slow down, and let your body and mind recharge.

Extended Stays vs. volunteering

We have developed this program because we are meeting more and more people who want to stay at the ranch for a month or more, but feel the volunteer program, for whatever reason, is not right for them. Volunteers at Ranquilco typically work for 8 hours per day during the week. Extended stay guests do not have to fulfill work requirements to stay on the ranch – although many of them choose to help in our organic vegetable garden or take on a project or two.

Horse use

All availability for horse use is based on the health of the horses and our pastures. We know that some of our guests want a more intense equestrian experience while at Ranquilco. You can sign up for horse use for an extra $75 per week. Horse use, whether for pleasure or work around the ranch is generally restricted to three days per week.
